The Big Question

This blog is all about answering just one question: Why do some people risk so much money, time, and reputation on something with so little chance of success?

This one question lies at the heart of happiness.  If there were no risks to achieving happiness, would happiness exist?  In other words, if it doesn’t take much effort to find happiness, is such happiness worth finding?

Happiness is not satisfaction: that is the feeling of a job well done.  Happiness is not being in the flow: this experience is needed in life, but happiness is more intense and more expanded.  Happiness is not money, power, or fame, even though much has had to be risked to get these prizes that society tells us is all that we need.  Much more risk and of a different type is needed to reach happiness.

Some of us are entrepreneurs because we really want to make a lot of money, gobs of money: immense wealth to satisfy our immense desires.  But some of us are entrepreneurs because it is the way to something greater down the line.  The thinkers have the answer as well as the artists; after all, they are entrepreneurs themselves and know the power of the gift within us.

More to come.
